Trafford Local Council

What We Do

The Chamber's Local Council in Trafford consists of a group of business people who meet quarterly to explore issues pertinent to Trafford businesses and give feedback on those issues. Its objective is to provide a collective voice for Trafford business and improve the environment for organisations to do business in the borough.

The Trafford Team

Trafford Local Council is chaired by the Trafford President, Neil Smith of Kinetic PLC. Neil writes a monthly column in the Sale and Altrincham Advertiser.

Matthew Kershaw is the Trafford Policy Manager and can be contacted on 0161 237 4455, 07779 091 307 or Matthew.Kershaw@gmchamber.co.uk

Our Activity

In several open dialogue sessions last year, members of the Council, as well as invited contributors, identified Trafford’s infrastructure, the under exploitation of the Trafford Park brand, and skills and social inclusion as major issues preventing Trafford from fully exploiting the advantages that it’s highly educated workforce, transport connectivity and existing business base and supply chain give it. The group is now working with Trafford MBC, providing local business intelligence and feedback, to help re-start the Trafford Park Masterplan.

Neil Smith is the Vice Chair of the Trafford Partnership (private sector) and Chris Fletcher, Greater Manchester Chamber’s Deputy CEO and Director of Policy, chairs the Trafford Economic Alliance.
