The Chamber's Local Council in Stockport consists of a group of business people who meet quarterly to explore issues pertinent to Stockport businesses and give feedback on those issues. The Council's objective is to provide a collective voice for Stockport business and improve the environment for organisations to do business in the borough.
Stockport Local Council is chaired by the Stockport President, Christian Mancier of Gorvins Solicitors.
The Vice President is Sue Souter of Souter PR.

Stockport Local Council has identified a number of key areas where they want to make a difference. These are:
Youth Employment and Employability – A small sub-group has been set up to engage with representatives of the borough’s education establishments to investigate how we can make it easier for local businesses to help with the teaching of employability skills and with careers information, advice and guidance. This group is meeting regularly with representatives of Stockport’s Further Education colleges and Stockport MBC to help break down barriers in this vital area.
Improving Stockport’s image – Our Local Council is committed to helping the Stockport Economic Alliance and Metropolitan Borough Council deliver the Stockport Economic Strategy, especially the section dealing with the perception of Stockport as a place to work, live and do business.

Lending its support to efforts to encourage Stockport’s business community to investigate exporting.
The group are working with Stockport MBC to promote the Stockport Business Challenge, an opportunity for local businesses to bid for up to £30,000 to fund the economic development projects they want to happen. Sue Souter and fellow local council member Pam Blanchard of ICA Ltd will be sitting on the Challenge's judging panel.
