"Free Pre-recruitment Course in Manchester - Housekeeper / Domestic"
What Happens?
In March / April 2010 we will be running a Pre-recruitment course working in partnership with Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Trust to recruit for a Housekeeper / Domestic position. On successful completion of a 2 week pre-employment training course there is a guaranteed interview for the position.
The role involves cleaning and general domestic duties on a secure, acute psychiatric ward for offenders in the Adult Forensics Secure Unit. The patients are offenders who have various psychiatric conditions including schizophrenia, paranoia, depression etc so anyone interested in this role must be willing to work with this specific client group. The unit is secure so although the post holder will generally be carrying out cleaning duties the role includes being a key holder and ensuring the safe locking of all doors and responsibility for their own safety and that of patients and visitors.

What Does the Course Cover?
The course covers:
- Safeguarding and working with vulnerable adults
- Communication skills
- Health and Safety, COSSH and infection prevention
- Food Hygiene
- Mental Health Awareness
- The role of Housekeeper
- General cleaning duties
Course Length: -2 weeks (part time 9.30am - 12.30pm or 1.30pm - 4.30pm), 29th March - 14th April Note: you must be able to attend the full 2 weeks of training. -Plus Travel Expenses!!!

Can I Come?
There are very strict eligiblity criteria for this course. In order to access the course you MUST meet the criteria below:
Able to provide referees for the past 3 years of employment or education, which must include most recent employer. This is required as the position involves working with offenders.
Willing to complete an enhanced CRB check. Anyone with certain convictions will not be able to take this position.
Able to provide references for the past 3 years of employment or education, which must include the last position held. Character references will be accepted for periods of unemployment, training etc. but full details must be supplied for the past 3 years.
Able to provide photographic ID, a UK or EU/EEA national passport, a passport stating no immigration controls in place, or immigration status documents issued by the Home Office stating the right to stay indefinitely in the UK.
Must be 18 or over and currently unemployed, workless or claiming benefit.
Willing to work full time and flexible shift patterns including weekends.
What Should I Do Now?
