Purpose of Service

The Forward 4 Work programme was launched in October 2008 and to date has engaged with over 130 residents in Wigan and Leigh with learning disabilities and/or self diagnosed mental health conditions (e.g. depression, anxiety, stress).

The friendly and approachable Forward for Work advisors work closely with you to help you progress towards long-term, sustainable employment. An integral part of this process are the accredited literacy and numeracy courses we offer in-house delivered by our dedicated Skills Tutor.

Working in close partnership with local organisations such as Remploy, Wigan Council and Jobcentre Plus, we ensure that clients have access to the support necessary for them to achieve their goals.

• CV advice and help in our CV Workshops
• Confidence Building Training Sessions to help you back in to the work place.
• Interview Techniques Training Sessions to help you secure "The Perfect Job"
• Access to independently-sourced vacancies unavailable to the wider job market in our Job Matching Service
• Accredited Academic Training (literacy and/or numeracy)
• Accredited Occupational Training (Food Hygiene, First Aid, Health & Safety, Manual Handling, CSCS, COSHH amongst others)
• Your helpful and friendly Individual Adviser will assist you with Jobsearch and transition into employment
• Access to NHS professionals - Condition Monitoring Programme

Eligibility

In order to access the Forward for Work programme clients must meet the criteria below:
Unemployed Wigan and Leigh residents
Have a Learning Disability or Self diagnosed Mental Health Issue (historical or current).
No benefit restrictions.
