The Greater Manchester Employer Coalition (GMEC) Awards took place on 26th May 2010 at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester. GMEC is a network of hundreds of local businesses who use their business leadership and job opportunities to improve the career prospects of local people - particularly those facing difficulties in finding, keeping and getting on in work. John Wood, a Work Solutions client at Salford Skills and Work, was proudly nominated for the GMEC Individual of the Year Award. John registered with Skills and Work following a 5 year period of unemployment. Seeing his potential, John was referred by his advisor to take part in a Pre-Recruitment Course for the new Tesco Store in Cheetham Hill. John's skills and enthusiasm shone through, and he successfully completed the course to start work with Tesco as a Trolley Person in January last year. John is thoroughly enjoying his work and the new found independence and confidence working has given him. The evening was enjoyed by all, including a delicious meal, followed by the exciting Award Ceremony. |
